ABOUT YAK WOOL
How is a domesticated long-haired cattle found throughout the Himalayan region of South and Central Asia, from the Tibetan Plateau to northern Mongolia.
Yak wool is one of the most luxurious and rare fibers, comparable in value to cashmere. It is soft, strong, durable, breathable and resistant to static electricity.
Mongolian yaks are one of the rare animal species that live in an ecologically clean area of Mongolia, in the beautiful Khangai Nuruu region, 2000–4000m above sea level.
Why is yak wool considered exclusive?
It is warm.
The warmth of yak wool was first discovered in 1980, when it was able to maintain insulation even after getting wet and provide normal body temperature. During the experiment, yaks maintained a body temperature of +8 to +20 °C at -18 °C, which explained their adaptation to the harsh climate and survival in extreme cold. This indicator is 10-15% higher than that of merino wool.
It is soft.
It is difficult to distinguish yak wool from cashmere unless we are told. The fiber is incredibly fine and thin, despite being a huge wool itself. Our yak wool products use fibers with a thickness of 17.5-19 microns, which ensures optimal conditions for the product to be soft, strong and durable. Therefore, yak wool is a perfectly balanced product that is pleasant on the skin and at the same time keeps you warm during the cold winter.
It is strong and durable.
Yak wool has a higher sulfur content and higher levels of protein and amino acids, making it stronger and more durable compared to other types of wool of the same diameter.
It is breathable.
The breathability of yak wool lies in its ability to absorb and release moisture and adjust to your body temperature. After wearing "breathable" yak wool clothing, you will forget about the unpleasant feelings of wearing clothes made of synthetic materials.
It is resistant to static electricity.
All types of natural fibers have antistatic properties – they do not become static. For yak wool, this indicator is quite high, even higher than for cashmere. Therefore, clothes made of yak wool do not stick to the body or become static.
It is antibacterial.
Yak wool has unique antibacterial properties. It is impossible for bacteria to multiply from sweat and dirt in yak wool clothes. Even in situations where cleaning and washing are not possible, you do not have to worry about bacteria.
It does not absorb any odor.
This natural property is another advantage of yak wool products. They also do not need to be washed as often as clothes made from other types of wool, which extends their lifespan.
